The first show begins with Susan Brubaker Knapp.  She creates art from her photos using fused appliqué and thread painting.  Today’s inspiration is a lighthouse in North Carolina.   Next, Pokey shares a stitched and stenciled book with photos and ephemera.  Then, join us on location at the Quilt Festival for a project from Karen Linduska entitled fantasy garden. Last up, Andrea Bishop shows how to create accurate appliqué in any size. She starts with a favorite photo and uses software to print out patterns.

Our feature designers are going to introduce you to some original ways to design with fabric. First up is Carol Taylor. Learn her unique approach to piecing narrow strips of fabric to create amazing designs. Then, meet Jennifer O’Brien a she creates a landscape from cut and fused fabrics starting with a photo as inspiration. Next, we travel to Chicago to meet Leilani Pierson and learn how to make her colorful, collage house books. Last up, Andrea Bishop is back with techniques for easy borders.

Make sure you have your machine threaded and ready. As we feature machine quilting.  Our first guest is Teri Lucas. She’ll demonstrate her innovative free-motion designs and give us tips and hints for machine quilting. Up next is Carol Ingram with a stitchable paper, mixed-media collage. You’ll learn some new ways to create stencils, bind a book, and create a foundation for all different mixed-media projects. Then we’ll take a trip to Chicago to meet Rhianna White and take a tour of the SAQA exhibit to view some inspiring art quilts. Last up, Beryl Taylor joins Pokey for a free-motion embroidery technique. We’ll stitch a batch of motifs that can be cut apart and used as embellishments for future projects.

Our first projects are no-sew fabric fortune cookies for a great personalized gift idea.  Then, it’s a lesson on specialty shibori dyeing with Dianne Giancola.  Next, we’re off to International Quilt Festival and a collage door book with Kayla Fujimoto. Finally, Luana Rubin encourages us to look at colors in a new way.  Inspired by travels to Japan, she features taupe and indigo in  a new light.
