She’s going to demonstrate thread painting techniques with her stitch samplers. Next, it’s mixed media home decor.  Kelli Perkins creates pillows from fabric paper. Today’s show features apparel. You can apply your quilting skills to wearables with great results. It’s a beautiful way to show off your art. We begin with Artist Julie Fei-Fan Balzer. She is using her quilt scraps to create amazing scarves. Then, it’s a decorative apron with Jamie Fingal featuring zippers and trims. Last up, Shelly stokes has a lesson in color – red and blue do not always make purple!  Shelly teaches mixing color 101 including achieving values using blending techniques.

First up, Jeanne Delpit will demonstrate stitching techniques for mixed media quilting especially with metal.  We’ll discuss needle tension and thread strength. Then, meet designer Joyce Drexler. She has taken her designs and created machine embroidery patterns. Today they’re featured on fabric wrapped corded items for your home including trivets and a bread basket.  Pokey finishes up with a quick tip.

Today’s show is all about tips for great quilting.  Our artists have agreed to share a few of their favorite tricks with us. Our first guest is artist, Lyric Kinard.  Learn a few carving tips and tricks to create a stamp from an eraser and then try out an “instant gratification” technique for transferring photocopies to fabric. Next, Melanie Testa is back with tips for free motion quilting with assists like masking tape and tracing paper. These are little tricks that will make your free motion quilting so much easier. Last up, Jeanne Sumrall- Ajero is back with tips for using photos to create a kaleidoscope effect on a wall hanging.  She also has tips for selecting color from the photos for sashing.

Catherine Nicholls is our first guest artist with a perfect free motion paper quilt collage inspired by photos she took of graffiti during some of her travels. Pokey shows how to make a colorful, whole cloth doggie jacket that will give the other dogs fashion envy. Last up, it’s our last project from Andrea Bishop.
