First up, today is Laura Wasilowski. She demonstrates how to transform the surface of a small art quilt with threads and hand sewing plus an interesting fusing technique. Then, meet artist Yvonne Porcella as she creates an embellished frame around a mini self portrait quilt. This is also a recycling project as Yvonne helps us use up our stash of buttons, stickers beads and more. Last up, we’re making a canvas wall hanging with artist Julie Fe Fan Balzer. Journaling is what makes it unique.

Today’s show is about technique. To get started on a new project sometimes we begin with a design, or maybe a pattern or even a new medium - but how about using a technique as your starting point? Carol Ingram is our first designer with techniques for fabric manipulation: folding, pleating, gathering and scrunching. The key is stabilizing the fabric first. Then, its time to sit down at your sewing machine with Catherine Nicholls as she teaches us the technique for free motion text on your quilts. Last up, Pokey demonstrates a no fuss finishing technique for a small art quilt.
